Misty's puppies 1-2 weeks old
Misty gave birth to five beautiful, healthy pups on October 29th, 2022. There are 4 girls and one boy. She handled it like a pro even though this was just her second litter. She did everything perfectly.
The pups have all doubled their birth weights, which typically happens by day 10.
They are receiving their Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) from days 3 to 16, so tomorrow is their last day. (see end of blog)
The whelping box is in my bedroom right by my bed so I can always keep an eye on the pups. This is especially important during the early days, making sure everyone is nursing well, no one is being laid on, etc. The room and whelping box have to be kept very warm (85 degrees) because the babies cannot regulate their own body temperature until they are about 3 weeks old.
These early days are such a sweet, sacred, special time.

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)
The benefits of ENS for puppies:
Improved cardiovascular performance
Stronger heartbeats
Stronger adrenal glands
Improved tolerance to stress
Greater resistance to disease
